About

Dr. Leta Vaughan specializes in gynecology and is an attentive and compassionate advanced practice nurse serving women in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. Her experience and expertise span over 30 years.

Dr. Vaughan earned her bachelor’s degree in health sciences and nursing from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, IL, her master’s degree in nurse-midwifery from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA.

Dr. Vaughan is board-certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board. She has taught women’s health at both the undergraduate and graduate levels at UIC, as well as through DePaul University, Loyola University, Methodist College of Nursing, and Chamberlain College of Nursing.

In addition to serving on faculty with UIC, Dr. Vaughan has a private clinical practice in Schaumburg, IL where she specializes in all aspects of gynecology and women’s health, with a particular focus and interest in teen issues, bio-identical hormones, holistic lifestyle, nutrition, and supplements.

Dr. Vaughan is a volunteer for the WINGS program and an advocate in the prevention of domestic violence. She is also involved with the Illinois Society of Advanced Practice Nurses and government issues for the promotion of independent practice.
